Comer Woods (Shropshire)
Comer Woods is part of the Dudmaston Estate on the A442 just south of Bridgnorth (WV15 6QL, SO739899, ///blush.victor.dockers).
The site is much busier than it used to be, having been promoted for walkers, cyclists and families, but there are quieter times and parts of the woods. A 1.5-mile trail is marked out as a White Admiral walk, where you may see these butterflies feeding on bramble in high summer.
The area around the woods is being restored to heathland as part of the Sandscapes project, which extends from Dudmaston to Kinver.
Parking is £6 (free for National Trust members) and refreshments are available in Heath Meadow.
